Basisbank, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Tbilisi, is among Georgia’s larger banks, holding roughly 4.48% of sector assets in 2025. Since 2012 it has been majority-owned by China’s Hualing Group, and it offers a full range of retail and business banking products including deposits, loans, cards and corporate finance. The bank has also figured in a proposed merger with Liberty Bank that would create a combined group with around 9.9% of total sector assets. With foreign ownership and a universal model, it serves both individual customers and companies across the market.
